What is EASA?

The Early Assessment and Support Alliance (EASA) is a network of programs and individuals across Oregon who are focused on providing rapid identification, support, assessment and treatment for teenagers and young adults who are experiencing the early signs of psychosis.

EASA is designed as a transitional program, with the goal of providing the education and resources the person needs to be successful in the long-term. Most individuals participate in EASA for about two years, although that time frame varies.

Who Does EASA Serve?

EASA serves young people ages 12 to 29 who have had a first episode of psychosis within the last 12 months or who are experiencing early at-risk symptoms for psychosis, and their families. The goal of EASA is to identify individuals with a new psychosis as soon as possible in order to minimize the negative impact on their lives.

The Lane County chapter of EASA aims to serve more “organic” cases of psychosis, as opposed to psychosis that stems from substance abuse, medical conditions, traumatic brain injury, or in individuals whose IQ is below 70.

Quotes from Graduates

“I can’t believe I am where I am right now. I’m working again and I never thought I would be. I’m better now than I was before. They gave me so much knowledge.”

“Beyond what this might be, there’s more out there.”

“I am so glad we were put in contact with EASA. Each of you is so supportive and gives good advice. I was overwhelmed and frightened for my daughter, but now feel we are supported by an awesome and caring team of professionals.”
- EASA Mom

“So I guess I'd tell people, ‘Don't try to manage this on your own. You can do it, but you need help. Listen to the people you trust.’”

“Without EASA I would still be that sad, paranoid, de-lusional mess. That is of course if I would have been able to sustain that kind of living. It also could have overwhelmed and consumed me and who knows where I would be if that were the case.”
